weet ons is in goeie hande!

History

Matsebula’s Bus Service was originally started in the late 1960’s by Messrs Samuel - , Michael - and their father, Mpopoli Matsebula.  They were later joined by their younger brother, Joseph Matsebula.  Matsebula’s Bus Service operated services between Pienaar, Daantjie and Lekazi to Nelspruit, as well as services in the Nkomazi area.  Sticks Nyalunga Bus Service was operated by the Nyalunga brothers, namely Solomon -, Ben - and Paul Nyalunga.  The Nyalunga brothers operated services from Kabokweni and Pienaar area to White River.  It is in this company where Fred Kinnear and Abel Erasmus acquired a 50% stake.  The two companies, Matsebula Bus Service and Stick Nyalunga amalgamated in 1980 to form what is today known as BUSCOR (Pty) Ltd under the leadership of Fred George Kinnear.

Mr Fred Kinnear, founding member of Buscor (Pty) Ltd and an entrepreneur has not only been involved in passenger transport for more than 40 years, but has been instrumental in developing social and service infrastructures for the communities which he has served. He was the Managing Director of Buscor since 1980. He was a major shareholder and was also the founding member of Protours Coach Charter (Pty) Ltd which now operates as a Division of Buscor (Pty) Ltd.

Today, Buscor (Pty) Ltd operates 450 buses of which the majority are train buses, transporting approximately 38 million passengers per annum and covers a distance of approximately 32 million kilometres per annum.

Buscor (Pty) Ltd has grown into a company known as being a pioneer regarding technological development in the passenger transport industry and earned the title of being the largest bus train operator in Africa.

Buscor (Pty) Ltd is currently piloting bi-articulate buses. This pilot is done with 22 bi-articulate buses which are running efficiently and effectively for the past 5 years without any incidents. ( The first one started operating in 2007)

With the retirement of Mr Kinnear at the end of April 2012, Hannah Trust, which had a 51% shareholding in Buscor (Pty) Ltd, became the first passenger commuter operator to be fully black owned.

The new shareholding is as follows:

Buscor Employees Benefit Trust– 10%
